To motivate consumers to always ask for a receipt whenever they purchase goods or services, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has launched the Premyo Sa Resibo (PSR) Raffle Project on a weekly basis.

Mustapha Gandarosa, Regional Director of BIR-Northern Mindanao, said the PSR is expected to help boost the tax collection drive of BIR in plugging billions of pesos in tax leaks due to non-issuance of receipts and misdeclaration of sales.

He said all you need to join the raffle is a cellphone with load and a receipt with a minimum amount of P100.

Just type the Tax Identification Number (TIN) of the establishment, receipt number and amount in the receipt and then using your cell phone, type in the text message in the following format: PSRTINReceipt Number Receipt Amount. Ex: PSR 005215077076*84293*130, then send it to 9777 for single entries for Smart/Globe/Sun Cellular subscribers and to 9778 for multiple entries for Smart/Globe subscribers.

No registration needed

[AdSense01]  Gandarosa said there is no need to register your name and address because the original of the official receipt shall serve as your primary identification as a winner.

There are three types of receipts with a minimum amount of P100 that can be entered in the PSR: Official Receipt, Cash/Sales Invoice and Cash Register Machine (CRM)/Point of Sales (POS) Receipt.

"In the case of the machine-generated receipts, ask the cashier to identify the receipt number to you. If she/he can't do it, they you can type in any number you can find in the receipt. Ex.: slip no./cash register no./serial no.," he further said.

All receipts dated the month before the draw and on the days of the current month prior to the actual draw date are qualified for the raffle. For the July 6, 2007 Raffle Draw, all receipts dated May 1-July 5, 2007 are qualified.

Gandarosa also said one can text again the non-winning receipt no. used in previous draws as long as the receipt date is within the covered period.
