Oro has 220,790 registered voters, 2 districts

[AdSense01] Come May election, a total of 220,790 registered voters in the city are expected to exercise their right to choose the next leaders of Cagayan de Oro.

City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano got this information from Atty. Stalin Baguio, city COMELEC officer who informed him that to date, there are 93,719 registered voters in the city's first district and another 127,071 registered voters in the city's second district.

According to the city COMELEC officer, the city's first district will be composed of 24 barangays that include Baikingon, Balulang, Bayabas, Bayanga, Besigan, Bonbon, Bulua, Canitoan, Carmen, Dansolihon, Iponan, Kauswagan, Lumbia, Mambuaya, Pagalungan, Pagatpat, Patag, Pigsag-an, San Simon, Taglimao, Tagpangi, Tignapoloan, Tuburan and Tumpagon.

All of these barangays are situated in the western side of the city with the Cagayan de Oro River serving as its natural boundary.

On the other hand, the city's second district has 56 barangays which include the 40 urban barangays and the barangays of Agusan, Balubal, Bugo, Camaman-an, Consolacion, Cugman, F.S. Catanico, Gusa, Indahag, Lapasan, Macabalan, Macasandig, Nazareth, Puerto, Puntod and Tablon.

In the coming May election, the city residents will elect 16 city councilors and two representatives for Congress.

With this political development, Mayor Emano pointed out that the creation of two districts in the city will mean more voices to carry the sentiments of the people not only in the session hall but also in Congress.
