Youth leaders join 1st Mindanao Environmental Youth Summit in Oro

[AdSense01] Over a hundred youth leaders from all over Mindanao converged here in a bid to become ambassadors of goodwill on environment as the first-ever Mindanao Environment Summit kicked-off today, October 6, at the Cha-li Beach Resort, this city.

Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation president councilor Jerico Goldmar Ebabacol welcomed the participants of the said summit which anchors on the theme, “Youth Reloaded: Crafting Actions towards Sustainable Development and Ecological Governance in Mindanao.”

Councilor Ebabacol said that the city is truly privileged to host the event since it will encourage the youth to be actively involved on environmental protection and preservation.

He pointed out that the three-day event will enable the youth and SK members to craft a local plan of action for Mindanao in support to existing environmental laws.

Ebabacol said that it’s high time for the youth to participate on advocacy and decision-making towards environmental education and management by establishing a local youth network that will lay down programs and projects on sustainable environmental efforts.

He expressed his gratitude to City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano for his continued support to the youth sector and recognizing the youth’s role in nation-building, especially on environmental concerns. (City Information Office)
